Karin Foerde, Ph.D.
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Brain & Cognition area, at the University of Amsterdam.

A current focus of my research is to understand the mechanisms underlying the persistent, maladaptive eating behavior observed in anorexia nervosa. In particular, I am interested in the influence of habitual and goal-directed behavior on maladaptive food choices.

More broadly, my research aims to understand how and when multiple memory systems interact to facilitate learning, memory, and decision-making in humans. A comprehensive investigation of these issues requires an integrative, multi-method approach: To this end, I combine behavioral experimentation, functional neuroimaging, and studies in neuropsychological populations.
